What Is IPL?
If you are bothered by how your complexion appears because of sun damage or dark spots, Sandhu Dermatology & Med Spa can offer you a skin examination at one of our offices in West Palmdale, Ridgecrest, or Tehachapi, CA to see if you could benefit from IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy. An IPL photofacial is a treatment that rejuvenates the skin of adults with hyperpigmentation concerns on their face and neck. A photofacial may be a noninvasive procedure; however, it can be highly effective and create impressive outcomes. At Sandhu Dermatology & Med Spa, we can use intense wavelengths of light energy that warm the skin just enough to set off the natural healing process and boost collagen production. In time, you should see a healthier complexion with a more even tone and fewer dark spots.
How Does IPL Work?
A photofacial is performed in around 20 – 30 minutes in our minor procedures room if no other treatments are performed. To prepare for the treatment, the technician will wash and dry your skin before protecting your eyes with covers. The photofacial is performed using a handheld wand that passes over the skin while emitting pulses of light energy. While most patients may have mild discomfort throughout the IPL, it's generally tolerable for the short treatment length.
What Are the Benefits of IPL?

Sandhu Dermatology & Med Spa Reviews
I love this location (private/modern), the whole building is dedicated to their services offered, not wedged in a place. Received botox and laser removal, both went wonderfully. Retha is the best. My only concern I have to make the place better, is that I noticed the foot pedal for the laser removal has to be moved to be accessed for use. Got it. But, what I didnt like was the technician or nurse would pick it up off the floor, move it and then proceed with services handling the equipment and touching my face. No removing of the gloves, washing hands, and replacing gloves. (worried). The pedal is for their feet to start the machine or laser process!!!! Never have I seen the laser equipment wiped down before or after services rendered and I know there is jelly-goo on it from being on the body. This also goes for the glasses used to protect the eyes, I see smudges, and fingerprints from previous clients.I just wish that cleaning, sanitizing was as up to par, as the quality of location, services, prices, and office professionalism. Other than that I love this place, its cute and can be more classy after cleaning. Just please clean everything and wipe it all down!!! Check it out, its the best place in the AV, feels like walking into Stevenson Ranch lol for comparison.
Im am so pleased with Michelle she is hands down the best laser lady I have been to!!! She is so personable and always ask how my kids are. I will never go to anyone else ever again!!! Thanks Michelle you are the BEST!!!!

Am I A Candidate for IPL?
An IPL photofacial works the deeper layers of your skin to correct several complexion blemishes (especially sun spots and brown lesions) with little or no recovery time. Candidates for an IPL photofacial at Sandhu Dermatology & Med Spa will have many concerns with their skin, including sun damage, rosacea, brown spots (hyperpigmentation), rough texture, large pores, redness, freckles, melasma, age and sun spots, or broken capillaries. Dr. Jasbir Sandhu will assess your skin to determine if you qualify for IPL at your private consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does IPL cost?
Your complexion issues are unique, so your cost for IPL treatments will depend on your unique goals. Sandhu Dermatology & Med Spa offers monthly specials, and we take many forms of payment. During your initial consultation, your technician can estimate costs and determine how many sessions are needed to fit your needs and goals.
How quick are the results from IPL?
Improvements can be seen after each treatment, but final results are visible about one month after completing all your treatments. It is normal for you to respond differently to each session. You will notice gradual improvements in blotchiness, redness, and spots (age, brown, and sun).
What are the possible side effects of IPL?
Most patients have mild, temporary side effects, like redness, swelling, crusting, blisters, or bruising, which fade in a few days. You will be extra sensitive to the sun, and excessive UV rays will negatively affect your results. You should also wear sunscreen to prevent damage like redness and spots.
Do I need to prep for IPL?
Before getting IPL, you will be asked to avoid self-tanners and excessive sun for about 2 – 4 weeks before the treatment. You may also be asked to stop using certain medications several days before each treatment and take pain relievers one week before your treatment to help prevent bruising. You should also use sunscreen since your skin will be extra sensitive.
Why should I get multiple IPL sessions?
Multiple IPL treatments are better for gradually improving the appearance of your complexion. Each treatment helps to diminish surface irregularities and spots. A series of sessions also produces longer-lasting results.
