Common Growths

Overview

Many types of growths can form on or just below our skin. We get these growths for different reasons. Some appear after we injure our skin or have spent years in the sun. Aging or the genes we inherit lead to other growths.

We have had great success with treating some of the most common benign (not cancerous) growths. None are life threatening. Some people choose to have a growth removed because it has become irritated, painful, or inflamed (red and swollen). Others want a growth removed because they do not like the way it looks on their skin. Your dermatologist may remove a growth to check for cancer. Most growths can be removed during an office visit.
